Baltoro – an ode to Pakistan’s eastern Karakoram 🏔 , Baltoro Glacier, one of the longest glaciers outside the polar region at 63 km (39 mi) in length. Glaciers are life source for a large portion pf northern Pakistan’s population, who depend on meltwater from the Karakoram glaciers.
Across cultures and countries, glaciers have powerful symbolic significance. They are seen as sources of energy, as living beings, as the homes of gods, and even as the energetic ground from which all nourishment and sustenance springs.
Glaciers are known to be as animated beings with their own rules for interaction. They are uncertain sources of life and death that can deliver the water necessary for fertility or distressing glacial outburst floods.
