What's the most vibrant way to tell a story? Through Pakistani TruckArt. Pakistan's unique tales have been preserved through poetry, folk tales, religious, sentimental emotional views, motifs painted in cargo-laden trucks.
Kaleidoscopic colors, beautifully idiosyncratic designs, jelly-bean palettes, intricate artisanship and everything vibrant and loud - Truck art dates back to the 1920s when the subcontinent was under British rule. In those times, indigenous art form was used to decorate carriages belonging to British aristocrats. After that the transport companies employed craftsmen to decorate their vehicles to give them an edge over rivals and attract more clients. The designs took on a greater purpose and significance and became the pride and joy of truck owners and drivers and an integral part of Pakistan’s culture after Partition.
For this piece, we have explored different mediums of expression and colors. . Inspiration from the Byzantine, Islamic and Slavic regions, Kaleido-queen is our treasure, something we love adorning, something we are proud of.
