For centuries, people have viewed women’s bodies as connected with the moon. Women have senses of rhythm that connect us to the cycles of the moon. Each month, a woman’s body has the ability to cleanse and rejuvenate itself. It used to be in traditional cultures that women would menstruate together during the dark night of the new moon. During this time, women would gather to support one another in a journey of deep introspection.

Eons ago, when people slept under the stars, women’s bodies naturally harmonized with the phases of the moon. Often times women would have their moon cycle at the same time so their gathering renewed connections with each other. Females in a tribe would gather what is called a ‘moon lodge’ in Native American traditions, or the ‘red tent’ in the Middle Eastern traditions. They didn’t clean, cook or prepare food. They allowed themselves to rest and renewal.

‘Over the Moon’ is an ode to all the women to take the time to create sacred space to heal, nurture, feel comfortable and understood.
